1. Velcro under desk or chair (or anywhere that it can be a type of 'fidget' for the kid to mess with...)

2. Study Carrell
Make sure it is tall enough and wide enough to block the student's view of the room. It won't do any good if it doesn't reduce visual distractions.

3. Earplugs (for the student)
These can be purchased at Wal-Mart. For some kids they are merely another distraction. But if auditory distraction is a problem it can help them during independent work times.

4. I-pod or MP3
For independent work times.
Do students have trouble when they are supposed to be listening to a story and follow along? Try loading it on an MP3 player.
Load music that isn't too enjoyable so they aren't more distracted by the music. White noise is another option.

5. Sensory Sensitivity to Light?
Allow the student to wear sunglasses while he/she works.
Dim the lights during work time.
